Internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon (SIH2023)

Activity Report for Internal Smart India Hackathon – 2023 (29th September 2023 @ 10.00 am)

Institute Innovation Council (IIC) of Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara conducted Internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon (SIH -2023) on 29th September 2023. SIH is a nationwide initiative to provide students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving. A total of 30 students and 7 teachers were present for the program. The program was started at 10.00 am in the Chemistry Department smart room. Dr. Prakash G Williams (Assistant professor of Biotechnology, Bishop Moore College), Dr. Yogesh Prasad (Assistant professor of Mathematics, Bishop Moore College), Dr. Rekha Rose Koshy (Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Bishop Moore College) and Dr. Tressia Alias Princy Paulose (Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Bishop Moore College) were the jury members of the Jury panel. The program was organized by Dr. Priya Mary Abraham (Assistant Professor of Chemistry and college SPOC, Bishop Moore College). Four teams with six students each, from the department of Botany, Department of Chemistry, Department of Commerce, and Department of Physics presented their innovative ideas. The themes selected by the students were: MEDTECH/BOTECH/HEALTHTEC – cutting edge technology in healthcare trends, CLEAN & GREEN TECHNOLOGY – solutions for waste segregation and disposal, and RENEWABLE/SUSTAINABLE ENERGY – manage and generate renewable/ sustainable sources more effectively. All the teams presented innovative ideas related to the theme they selected. All four groups were shortlisted for participating in Smart India Hackathon – 2023. The program was informative for the attended students and faculties. OBJECTIVES: To provide an opportunity for the innovative minds in the campus to show case their ideas. For the team selection of Smart India Hackathon - 2023 OUTCOME: The students could fine tune their ideas with the help of the jury members The participants and attended students could get to know the smart, effective and innovative ideas and approaches to solve the stated problems.
