MIST (Moore Initiative for Skill Training)
Title of the Practice:
MIST (Moore Initiative for Skill Training)
Objectives of the Practice:
The objectives of the practice can be summarized as follows:
To build a sense of self-confidence in students by imparting sustainable employability skills
To equip young minds with the skill set which give them an upper hand in the job market
To uncover skills and bridge gaps in the knowledge of practically applying in-born and acquired skills for productive use
To sharpen existing skills and competencies in students to use them in start-ups or employment endeavors
The Context:
Investing in skills is so vital to a country’s economic growth and competitiveness. In particular, education systems must be oriented towards producing youth who have both strong foundational skills as well as specific skills for jobs. Employers discuss with us a major roadblock in their employments as a degradation in the quality and supply of skilled labor. Employers are also demanding that new hires should have both technical and “soft”
skills. In rural areas like the place where our College is situated, skill development among youth is a major concern. Specially in the present years when the demand for job-specific skills has been growing, there is a need to take measures to impart a skill set among students so as to make them competent in the job market.
