The Department of Commerce of Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara organised an Inter-School one minute elocution competition ‘Minute Maestro’ on 23rd September, 2023 inculcating Sustainable Development Goal. A total of 47 students registered for the event from 5 schools – Bishop Hodges Higher secondary School, St. Mary’s Cathedral Public School, Vidyadhiraja Vidyapeetom Central School, St. John’s Higher Secondary School and Infant Jesus English Medium School. The programme was conducted in two rounds – a preliminary round and final round. For the programme, students were expected to talk on each topic for one minute. OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME 1. Provide a unique platform for school students to express their perspectives on various current affairs. 2. Enhance the creativity and speaking prowess of the young orators. WINNERS First Prize: Mr. Hanok Joby, St. Mary’s Cathedral Public School (Trophy, Certificate and Cash prize of Rs. 5000 was given) Second Prize: Ms. Angela Mariam, St. Mary’s Cathedral Public School (Medal, Certificate and Cash prize of Rs. 2500 was given) Third Prize: Ms. Devika V Pai, Vidyadhiraja Vidyapeetom Central School (Medal, Certificate and Cash prize of Rs. 1500 was given) OUTCOME OF THE PROGRAMME Participants were able to get in touch with the current affairs and share their perspective regarding the same. Preparing for the elocution enabled them to develop their presentation, creativity and speaking skills. College exposure was also provided to them as the programme was conducted on college grounds. Most of them were satisfied with the programme and are ready to take up new challenges like Minute Maestro.
